About ShelleyAyres Photography

Eau Claire Sports, Family, Children, & Senior Portrait Photographer

I love photography, always have. I love to capture emotion, whether in a portrait setting or a sporting event. I love faces and all that you can see in a face. I really LOVE photography…sports, families, kids, portraits. I love it all!

A Single Photograph Can Capture Life's Rare Moments

My experience in photography comes from many years of taking photographs for family and friends. I’ve had a camera slung around my neck for as long as I can remember.

I grew out of the hobby aspect of photography when I was asked by numerous parents to take their kids’ senior portraits. My skills have been advanced by the many online photography classes that I have taken and by reading through my vast library of photography books.

But I believe the most important part of great photography is recognizing opportunity…anticipating the emotions and passion that people show. The special little moments that come and go so quickly in real life can be captured forever in a single photograph.

The priceless throw-your-head-back laughter after a funny story…the “stop touching me” look from a little brother…the intimidating stare when facing an opponent on the field of battle. Catching these rare moments is what truly makes a photograph so valuable.

It makes my heart sing with joy when I capture the essence of someone. That’s what I do best…and that’s why I love being a photographer!

More About ShelleyAyres

Ever since I was a young girl, I’ve always had a camera in hand. I was the historian of my pom-pom squad in high school, taking the team’s candid photographs and putting all photos and memorabilia in a scrapbook. I would always be the one taking pictures on family vacations, birthdays and holidays. And I am the keeper of historic family photos going back generations.

I grew up in Eau Claire and graduated from Memorial High School. I married my high school sweetheart and now have kids who play sports at the very same school that we did. From hockey and football to dance and senior pictures, I’ve photographed my kids and their friends for as long as I can remember. Even though they’re growing up now and heading off to bigger and better things, I still continue to take photos at the games and school events, from youth activities through high school and college.

I love kids of all ages. I’m a kid at heart myself! I believe this is what enables me to take the kind of photographs I do…being able to engage kids, big and little, in conversation, putting them at ease and just being their true selves.

“Photography is a way of feeling, of touching, of loving. What you have caught on film is captured forever…it remembers the little things, long after you have forgotten everything.” Aaron Siskind
